Ocuco, the leading provider of software for the optical market, has launched Innovations 3, its new lab management software (LMS). The release brings significant improvements to the platform, delivering up to 120 times faster processing for optical labs. It also strengthens reliability, security, and compliance. Following 15 months of development, Innovations 3 represents the company’s biggest investment in its LMS to date.
“Innovations has long been the industry’s most widely distributed LMS. With this investment, we’ve responded to increased data regulation and cyberattacks by replatforming to a more modern and secure database technology, while also making it faster and more powerful, delivering real, measurable benefits for our lab customers. In addition, it also provides a robust platform for new upcoming features in what is now and AI world,” said Leo Mac Canna, CEO of Ocuco.
The upgrade also moves Innovations 3 to Microsoft SQL Server, an enterprise-grade database technology with advanced encryption, role-based access controls, and continuous vendor improvements.
Innovations 3 builds on everything that made Ocuco’s solution a trusted lab management platform. It’s designed for labs handling edging, freeform, and conventional lens processing, from wholesale operations to retail, in-store and online. Its modular structure allows labs to add functionality as they grow.
Beyond standard capabilities like Surfacing Calculations and Machine Links, the Master Lens Database, and Freeform Integration, Innovations 3 also offers differentiated modules, including the Rules Engine, which lets labs set custom rules from job data to shape production decisions, InnovaWeb, which gives lab managers and technicians remote, browser-based access to order tracking and status updates, and Workflow Monitor, which gives leadership real-time visibility into staff and equipment performance to support faster decisions.
A Platform Built Forward
Innovations 3 provides significant improvements at the core of lab operations:
- Speed at scale: Query execution is faster, report generation and data purging take a fraction of the time they once required, and concurrent users no longer slow the system down. In one lab’s testing, a batch of 3,000 status updates that once took over 10 minutes now completes in five seconds, roughly 120 times faster.
- Enterprise-grade security: Innovations 3 runs on Microsoft SQL Server, pairing advanced encryption with role-based access controls. This supports compliance with data protection regulations, including HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR.
- Sharper compliance tools: Improved audit trail capabilities and stronger data management controls, built for a regulatory landscape that keeps tightening across the optical sector.
- Built for what’s next: Innovations 3 is the platform Ocuco will build all future development on, backed by ongoing investment and ready to securely support AI-driven capabilities as they arrive.
“Innovations 3 puts our lab customers ahead of where the industry is heading, not just caught up to it. It’s built to keep adding capability over time, so labs won’t need to go through another platform change to stay current,” highlighted Patrick Broe, VP of Sales for Ocuco’s Lab Division.
Innovations 3 is already live with early-adopter labs, with wider rollout continuing over the coming months. To learn more about Innovations 3, schedule a conversation with the Ocuco Lab Division team.
