Vision Expo West Checklist: How to Prepare

Over the years, I’ve learned that preparation is the secret to making the most of your experience. Use this Vision Expo West checklist to ensure your time in Las Vegas is productive and memorable.

1. Register Early

• The deadline to avail of free registration may have passed but not to worry Ocuco has you covered

2. Book Accommodations and Travel

• Reserve a hotel near The Venetian Expo for convenience and better networking opportunities. Pro tip: Check out the Vision Expo website for discounted rates at The Venetian and other nearby hotels
• Book flights in advance for the best rates, and plan transportation from the airport to your hotel
  
  

3. Plan Your CE and Education

The Vision Expo West schedule is packed with educational opportunities ranging from COPE, and AOA approved courses to hands on clinical workshops and much more. In 2025, you can expect sessions on:

• Advances in Myopia Management
• Retail Strategies for Optical Practices
• AI in Optometry

Some courses can only cater to limited attendee numbers so review the schedule, favourite the courses you wish to attend and add them to your calendar for a smooth experience on-site and timely arrival for each session.

4. Research Exhibitors and Products

• Pre-expo identify the products and services you are interested in learning more about at Vision Expo. Visit the exhibitor directory to learn more about those exhibiting and their products and services. Shortlist the exhibitors and brands you want to connect with. 
• Consider reaching out to exhibitors in advance to schedule meetings, reducing wait times and enabling you to maximise your time at the event.

The Optical Women’s Association Bid$ and Bevs Networking Event

• Enjoy networking and a cocktail whilst bidding on a range of auction items including designer handbags alongside the on-site raffle with a large range of prizes up for grabs.  All proceeds go to Professional Development Programs.

Most Influential Women in Optical (MIWO) Luncheon 

Vision Monday’s annual MIWO luncheon is always a personal highlight as the industry comes together to honor the year’s most influential women within the industry. It’s a chance to make new connections and toast to the successes. 

6. Pack The Essentials

• Opt for comfortable, professional attire and shoes, you’ll be on your feet for much of the expo, even if you’re staying at The Venetian be prepared to exceed your step count goals each day – I learned this the hard way the first year I attended VEW. 
• Bring essentials like business cards, a fully charged phone, a portable charger, notepad, and a sturdy bag for brochures and giveaways
  
  

7. Set Goals

Last but not least define your overall objectives whether it’s making new supplier connections, expanding your knowledge or networking with peers, having clear goals will help you focus your efforts and get the most out of attending Vision Expo West.
