This evidence-based session highlights the importance of communication and collaboration in dispensing presented by Alex Webster, Head of CPD, ABDO.


During this webinar we take a look at the essential dos and don’ts of dispensing, emphasising the role of effective communication and multidisciplinary working for successful outcomes. With the help of evidenced statistics we consider the most common factors leading to dispensing remakes and complaints, as well as how best to navigate lens and frame selections.


By exploring best practices and common pitfalls to avoid, we can improve the overall patient experience. Viewers will come to understand communication issues that can arise during the dispensing process and how good practice of multidisciplinary working can improve dispensing outcomes.  






Alex Webster, Head of CPD, ABDO

Alex is a qualified dispensing optician and contact lens optician and has worked in both Independent and Multiple practice. She is an international practical examiner and theory paper marker for ophthalmic dispensing and a practical contact lens examiner for ABDO. 


Alex is Head of CPD at ABDO and has worked in contact lens professional services and optical education for over 7 years, gaining a Master’s degree in Healthcare Professional Education and is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Education. 


She has also worked part-time as a lecturer in Ophthalmic Dispensing and Contact Lenses at Bradford College. Alex is an experienced presenter and facilitator, as well as author of CET and CPD.
